Tom Price


Tom Price sits below Mount Nameless in the Pilbara, it highest town above sea leve in Western Australia. The town was once owned by the Rio Tinto mining company it is now owned and run by the Shire of Ashburton.

The mine began mining operations in 1966. The actual Mount Tom Price open cut mine is located in the mineral rich Hamersley Range. The range is so rich that it is estimated to contain up to 80 percent of all known reserves of iron ore in Australia.
